The Croak 500 was an idea I had over 11 years ago. It was just a short story on paper. I had dreams and hopes of one day becoming a famous children's book author. Today, I am not famous but my dream is reality. I am a children's book author. A #1 Bestseller at Amazon.com. I have 5 star ratings. My goal is to teach kids to be better in their life. Ted and Raymond teach life things to little kids for them to understand at an early age. Now that we have books out my next goal will be animation. Would love a contract :)

You ask what is this website about.

A Shreveport residence, a mother, a wife, and a daughter. I have a wonderful husband who is the illustrator of the Ted and Raymond Series as well as my co-writer in Searching for the Unknown and Spirits of ChesterVille General Store. I started my love for writing at an early age of 13. I loved to write even if it didn't make sense. I started my writing in serious love poems and different things. Then in 2000 I wrote my first Ted and Raymond book that turned into a series, "The Croak 500". I didn't know that I would have a series until two years ago. As I researched for my husband to do voiceover work I came across some awesome people and then my book showed up. With NO animation or characters my husband made the book come alive. Then I was inspired to do more and more stories. And well.... Here I am. Inspiring kids to be better!

I like simple myself. I am not a BIG time reader, but I LOVE to write. I was thinking about the person who does not like to read because maybe they do not understand all of the BIG words and get frustrated having to look them all up. With “Searching for the Unknown” and all of my books I want it SIMPLE. Bring reading BACK! A lot of people do not enjoy reading a good book when it has confusing wording. I know I stopped reading because of my lack of understanding what things meant. Even instructions can be hard to read for someone. In my books I take the confusing language out and put SIMPLE in. So everyone can enjoy KNOWING what everything means.

I recommend you buy the whole Ted and Raymond series! The Ted and Raymond's Learning adventure book "U for Umbrella" reinforced what I already teach my daughter. We go through the alphabets each day to state what each letter is for. Today we enjoyed pictures as well as the Ted and Raymond characters. It is always nice to have new material to supplement my 3 year old's learning. She enjoyed the book and is anxiously waiting for me to read her another Ted and Raymond book.

In life we learn and so does your children. Even at a small age before talking fully they can communicate. I challenge you as a parent to start your child before the age of ONE, yes ONE to start showing them the alphabet, teach them. When they begin school they will have the skills they need to succeed. It starts with you. My son almost three at the age of two could say ALL of the alphabet acknowledge which letter was each one, colors, shapes, numbers 1-10. When we are out shopping the cashiers always ask how old is he? Is he at daycare? All of the questions. They say he is so advanced. Also, he will tell you every letter and what the item is and he recognizes them and the sound a is for apple. I will tell you with the Learning books of Ted and Raymond I guarantee if you work with them they will learn QUICKLY. They are FUN books! Do NOT get this from me. My Goal as a writer is to teach children how they can succeed by being themselves. I have learned in life you do not have to be first at everything. You follow your dreams no matter how old. You look at other people and are nice and not be a bully or pushover. It is sad that life has taught us how to be rude, mean, and ugly to even our own family members. Kids need to learn at an early age to help the elderly, be a good friend, and be better with talking to others.

Chapter 1 "She heard something rattling in the kitchen. She was home alone; someone had to be in her house. She was alone, scared, and prepared to fight. She walked slowly from her bedroom to the hall looking for something or someone. She didn't want to make any noise. Melody slowly made her way to the kitchen and there was no one there. She thought maybe they went to another room, so she looked all around, and NOTHING!" Melody and her husband Sam decided they wanted to move to a small town. With Sam working at the railroad, Sam was relocated to a small town called Everest County. It was a small town with about 1200 people in the community. Melody was a teacher back in the city; she took some time off to get settled in their new place. She loved history and writing. They wanted to buy a house they had seen several months ago while Sam was looking at the place of transfer. The house was white and a quiet place to live. They see this house abandoned, with some fixing up to do. It had lots of trees, plenty of land, a place to go fishing. It was a great deal for them and was a perfect place to live for Melody and Sam. Sam was a hunter, fisherman, loved to ride on four-wheelers. Melody went into the town to buy some groceries and some things for the house, like paint, and brushes. She ran into some older ladies in the market; they were all real friendly. There was one that stood out. Her name was Bella. She had the prettiest white hair, and so pure looking. She had a very sweet voice. She knew Melody was not from there. She had a city look, a rushed look, always in a hurry to get things done fast. Bella asked where she was living and how long she had lived there. "I just moved in to that abandoned house on County Rd 785." The ladies were very silent, bent their heads down and said "good luck." They all walked away hurriedly. Standing there in the middle of the aisle just boggled on what that meant. She walked up to the register and checked out her things. On the way home Melody kept thinking why those ladies told her good luck and rushed away. As she was unloading her groceries on the cabinet and started making dinner, Melody heard the shower running. She knew Sam was not home from work yet. "Sam is that you?" she yelled. With nothing but silence, she ran toward the bathroom and put her head up to the door. She could hear the shower was spraying. She twisted the knob slowly, she opened the door but there was no one there. The shower was not running, and no water was in the bathtub. She shrugged and thought maybe it was her imaginings. She then felt something brush her shoulder, like someone had walked by her really fast. She was very scared. As her husband was coming home, she called his cell phone and said what was happening. But he thought she was just making things up. He didn't believe her.

The Beginning of a DREAM......

I had a dream to become a children's writer. As you can see it is not just a dream, it is reality. It was a hard reality of "you cannot do this" "You arent worth" "It takes alot of work" A dream is work, it is even harder when you do not believe in yourself. I Believe, and did! Now with knowing this I want to teach kids it is not the EASY road to success. It takes research, doing, and education. I pray that you will see the hard work I have done over two years. With just ONE Book sitting on the shelf became in other houses this year. Thank you Jesus for believing in me FIRST!
